Urge Congress: Take Steps to End the War with Iran
The United States is on the verge of a ceasefire deal with Iran, with nuclear issues still to be negotiated, while our ally Israel signals continued war in Lebanon. Now is the time to contact your congressional Representative and Senators and ask them to take three steps to end these wars: pass the war powers resolution, oppose massive proposed increases to military spending, and block further weapons transfers to Israel.
On Saturday, April 11, Pope Leo XIV delivered a prophetic, powerful message for peace during a prayer vigil at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. He said, “Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life.” The Vigil included people of various continents coming together to light candles with fire from the Lamp of Peace in Assisi. On April 8, the Pope called on people of good will to contact their political leaders and congressional representatives.
