Friend,

Faith in Action (formerly known as PICO National Network) and DMV Congregation Network are making a call to action.  On Thursday, June 21 at 11:30am 50 children supported by the community and clergy will process into the Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda and will lay on Mylar blankets. The children will symbolically represent the thousands of children separated from families on the border, sleeping on floors and held in cages (see image below from the McAllen Detention Center in Texas).

We want to have as many Franciscans there as possible, Friend! FAN will have printed 8.5x11 signs indicating our collective Franciscan presence. Look for our Franciscan Action Network banner to get one.

Clergy joining will pray with the children and call for action in Congress to reunite families, stop separation and criminalization, and defund the Department of Homeland Security. Simultaneously, with the event in the rotunda, clergy, leaders and children will also deliver letters, mylar blankets, and cages to congressional leadership.

All allies are welcome to join in solidarity and sponsor the event.
