Urge Congress to Protect Endangered Species

Thank you for taking action to protect endangered species. As Christians, we believe all of God's creatures are sacred. Every living thing plays an important role in maintaining the health and beauty of our common home. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) protects biodiversity and prevents the extinction of our most vulnerable animals, fish, and plants.

On the next page, we invite you to personalize your letter to your Representative. Please share why nature and our common homee is important to you.

Urge Congress to Protect Endangered Species

House of Representatives

Subject: Protect Endangered Species

Message:

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is our very best tool for stopping the extinction crisis in its tracks, and I am writing to ask you to please take action to stop the administration's efforts to weaken the ESA. As a Christian, I believe all of God's creatures are sacred. Every living thing plays an important role in maintaining the health and beauty of our common home. In Ladauto Si’ (2015), Pope Francis instructed: “Because of us, thousands of species will no longer give glory to God by their very existence, nor convey their message to us. We have no such right.” In the coming decades, a million of the Earth’s species face the possibility of extinction due to human-caused habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. We have no such right! Even species that are not yet on the brink will likely face huge population declines. Please do not stand by as this extinction crisis means fewer and fewer pollinators to support our crops and national food supply, depleted fisheries, and threats to America’s remarkable wild places like rivers, wetlands, coral reefs, and forests. I am a steadfast defender of the Endangered Species Act and its full implementation for the recovery of imperiled wildlife. I ask you as my elected representative to defend the ESA and reject all attempts to weaken and undermine its effectiveness.
